I haven't posted here for a little while. Just wanted to fill all of you in on a few things from this last week and for this month.
I spent last Thursday at Hitchcock Nature Center banding hawks for the last time this year. We didn't end up catching anything. After banding hawks I met with Jamie, the senior pictured above, and a few of her family members and took her high school senior portraits. A big thank you to Jamie's sister Jordan and brother Jacob for helping me out during the session. :) (A blog post with some of my favorite images from her session will be coming as soon as I finish her images.)
Later that night after taking Jamie's pictures, I stayed at Hitchcock until midnight banding Northern Saw-whet Owls. We caught 3 of the owls which I was happy for since we didn't catch any hawks earlier in the day. The picture below is of bander Jerry Toll measuring the Northern Saw-whet Owl's wing chord. Tiny little owl, aren't they?

The rest of this past week I've been editing Jamie's images and trying to decide on what I'm going to do for a Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale this year. I have a few ideas but I'm not going to share yet. You'll have to keep an eye out for those. :)
Also, be sure to tune into Iowa Public Television tonight at 6:30 for an episode of Iowa Outdoors. The banding done at Hitchcock Nature Center will be featured on there.
